She is the translator of Pablo García’s Song from the Underworld (Achiote Press), a book of contemporary Maya poetry. She holds a doctorate in Hispanic literature, was a Fulbright scholar in Brazil, and currently teaches at New Jersey Institute of Technology. She is writing a book on motherhood.
