Shanti Thirumalai watched the monsoon from the upper deck of BEST buses in Bombay before the city changed its name. She lives in Ann Arbor where she dabbles in classical guitar, ink painting, and child neurology. She does not have an MFA, avoids going to the gym and has no pets. She writes out of necessity.
